### >>> UPDATE 2026-10-18 (read first, then the 10-17 handoff below) <<<
**STATE at end of 2026-10-18 (evening):**
- On the phone: userdata = **image v15** (`/run/media/dipa/android/ios-sweet-ipsw/ios16-root-20H392-v15.img/.simg`; = v14 + `/private/var/preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist` with one network service "USB Ethernet": Interface DeviceName ue0 Type Ethernet, IPv4 Manual 192.168.7.2/24 router 192.168.7.1, DNS 1.1.1.1 8.8.8.8, set "Automatic" as CurrentSet). Fallback image v14 (v12/v13 deleted).
- Kernels: **0078** = all 8 cores (`cpus=8`, cpu6/7 = A76, homogeneous SMP; mkadt now emits 8 CPU nodes; ADT `shim/out/sweet-0078hi.adt`); **0079** = display off/on via IOMFB selector 12 kern_RequestPowerChange(state) (fade over 6 vsyncs, then black; verified: power button gives "SWEET FB: display off/on"); **0080** = `SWEET NET: <proc> route add/delete/change ...` and `... add/delete address ...` trace (built, `shim/out/shim-boot-0080s.img`, NOT booted yet).
- **Internet over USB: not working yet.** Host side is ready (temporary iptables: FORWARD accept for 192.168.7.0/24 + MASQUERADE, comment "ios-sweet"; lost on host reboot). With v15 the phone sent no DNS and no outbound traffic (only mDNS/ARP) -> configd probably did not apply the service (or did, without default route/DNS). Next: boot 0080s on v15, watch `SWEET NET` lines (does configd add 192.168.7.2 / default route on ue0?). If configd ignores ue0 (not an IOKit IONetworkInterface; configd 1241.140.6 source in `research/configd-1241`, SCNetworkInterface createInterface needs IONetworkInterface -> controller (IOMACAddress, SelfNamed) -> bus), add IOKit stand-ins and/or rename the ifnet to en*.
- Live log listener (`nc -ukl 5140`) may still be running, writing `logs/live-0078s.txt`.
**LIVE LOG over USB (0077, boot 0077s): no more recovery round-trips.** Boot an image with `sweetusb=2`, run `tools/sweet-usbnet.sh logs/live-NAME.txt` on the PC: it waits for the phone's CDC-ECM interface, sets 192.168.7.1/24 (sudo) and prints/saves the kernel console the phone streams every 100 ms as UDP to 192.168.7.1:5140 (starts with the last 64 KiB). `ping 192.168.7.2` checks the link. Current image: `shim/out/shim-boot-0077s.img` (kernel 0077, ADT sweet-0069hi, cpus=6, sweetfb_noconsole=1, sweetfb_hz=30, sweetusb=2). The recovery pull (`tools/sweet-log-pull.sh`) is still the way after a panic/hang before USB comes up.
**🎉 USB networking works (boot 0076s, 18:24 local): `ping 192.168.7.2` from the PC answers in ~1 ms, 0 % loss (200-packet burst, 1500-byte frames, 512/1024-byte frames).** 0075: CDC-ECM function (bulk 0x81/0x01, interrupt 0x82 NETWORK_CONNECTION; host MAC 02:00:5e:77:ee:01) + kernel ethernet ifnet `ue0` (legacy output, header strip like if_fake) with 192.168.7.2/24 set from the kernel (proto_plumb + SIOCAIFADDR on an in-kernel socket). 0076: received frames into one cluster mbuf (mbuf_allocpacket gave a first mbuf of length 0 -> panic "Failed mbuf validity check: len -14"). Host side (Linux cdc_ether, interface `enp0s20f0u3u1`): `nmcli dev set IF managed no; sudo ip addr add 192.168.7.1/24 dev IF; sudo ip link set IF up`. Boot image `shim/out/shim-boot-0076s.img` (`sweetusb=2`). iOS itself does not see ue0 yet (configd needs an IONetworkInterface in IOKit).
